Senior year is such a milestone, and your photos should feel like you—confident, relaxed, and totally authentic. Whether you're dreaming of a golden sunset session at Whitetail Woods Regional Park or surrounded by tall grasses at Lebanon Hills, here's everything you need to know to prepare for your senior photo session.

Choose Outfits That Feel Like You

Plan 2–3 outfits you feel confident in! I recommend mixing styles:

  • One dressy

  • One casual

  • One that’s totally you (maybe your sport jersey or favorite flannel)

Keep in mind: natural tones and soft textures photograph beautifully at local parks like Ritter Farm in Lakeville or Downtown Northfield. Try to avoid bold logos, neon colors, or anything too busy—let your personality shine through!

Need help deciding? I’m happy to help you plan outfits, accessories, and even shoes.

Pick the Perfect Location

Living in Lakeville, Rosemount, Eagan or the surrounding areas means we’re surrounded by amazing locations. Want open fields and towering pines? Whitetail Woods is a favorite. Looking for water views and dreamy walking paths? Lebanon Hills is always a win.

We can even mix locations—start at the park and head into town for a few urban shots to round out your gallery.

Timing is Everything (Hello, Golden Hour!)

The best light happens right before sunset. That golden glow is flattering, warm, and makes every photo feel a little extra magical. I’ll help you schedule your session to get the best light possible. Trust me—your photos will thank you!

Hair, Makeup & Confidence

A little extra polish goes a long way. Whether you do your own or book a professional, aim for a natural look that makes you feel your best. Don’t overthink it—what matters most is that you feel comfortable.

✨ Bonus tip: bring a bit of translucent powder or blotting sheets if it’s a warm day!

Bring the Little Things

Here’s what I recommend bringing along:

  • Comfy shoes (for walking between spots)

  • Water bottle

  • Chapstick and powder for touch-ups

  • Any props that reflect you (sports gear, music instruments, etc.)

  • A parent or friend for support—and a few laughs!

Relax—I've Got You!

You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you every step of the way so your photos feel natural and effortless. My goal is to make your session fun and comfortable—so you walk away with images you’re truly excited about.

Ready to Book?

Spots fill quickly—especially in the fall when those Minnesota leaves start to pop. If you’re in Lakeville, Rosemount, Farmington, or nearby let’s chat and get you on the calendar!
